theres like 8 threads on this in hte first few pages of the software forum.

yes.

it writes a tmp file that is erased after you close the table so you have to keep PT running and importing while the tables are up

Is it necessary to be logged in or can you datamine FTP as an observer?

If you don't log in, I believe FTP limits you to 4 tables. Logged in you can observe 16 tables.
