Default World of Warcraft

Anybody play this game here? I'm sure there are.

I have questions...

What is the latest version to get?

I found this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000067...8244050-9200803

How much does it cost to play on the server?

I was looking on www.worldofwarcraft.com but I can't find anything.

I'm also in a hurry so I probably forgot something, or I just didn't look hard enough.

Thanks!

Your best option is to not get it. Unless you like paying to get your soul and lifeforce sucked away slowly.

IFX,

I'm sure there are people that play more than me that can answer this better.

It's something like $12-15/mo. to play. I know that it was small enough that I don't think about it a whole lot. Definitely less than $20, but I think it's like $15/mo.

As far as getting the latest version -- unless I'm misunderstanding your question, you don't really need to worry about it. Just pick up a copy and after you install it and try to login, there will be a (huge) update package for you to download and install.

Anyway it's a pretty fun game, and IMO a game that, at least at the lower levels, is a lot easier to play casually than many other MMORPGs out there. So, enjoy. Don't get addicted.

QTF

I played a lot when it first came out, but was able to kick it about 8 months ago.

Unfortunately, a "friend" talked me into starting again.
I have it under control for now. I can quit anytime I want...

To answer your question, there's really only one retail version right now. Whatever you buy will just get auto-patched when you log in.

There's an expansion coming out sometime, which you'd have to buy anyway. (I think)

I believe it costs about $13 a month, or a little less if you buy 3-month, 6-month subscriptions.

I havent played a hand of online poker since I started with wow again. So believe that this game is -EV in all sense of the term.

My friend played at college and while I showed him how to play SNG's, I would sit there and watch him play World of Warcraft. I thought it was neat how you can play in such a huge world against real people from around the world.

At first I didn't like the idea of paying monthly, but it wouldn't hurt to try it out and see how much I like it.

I played Battlefield 2 several months ago and I liked it, but I didn't like the way it was constrictive - that is how I describe it.

Anyways, thanks mlagoo for responding.

Some people are saying not to play it.

Can you elaborate on WHY not?

It can be very time consuming.
At lower levels, it's not that bad.
But in later stages of the game, if you can't commit 3, 4 or 8 hours to it, it almost isnt worth playing. (Obviously this isnt true for everyone, it really depends on your play style.)

Also, there are still problems with the game that can lead to great frustration. Especially when you get into that 3, 4, 8 hour stage.

The game is worthless and frustrating unless you put in 25-80 hours a week playing it. Playing this game casually is a waste of time, it is designed this way. Whoever says this game is "easier to play casually" than other MMORPG's is so wrong there isnt a word for how wrong he is.

I do not have an addictive personality, and this game ruined me (temporarily). I did nothing but sleep and play WoW. I lost a job, I became completely withdrawn. I know ur saying to yourslef "well this is a matter of willpower, I will not do this", just as I did when I heard these stories. But seriously man, dont put yourself in this position. Go play another great game, there are many you can pick up. Im telling you, if ypu start playing WoW you will look back on this and wish you had taken me seriously.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but I play the game casually, and I really enjoy it.

Not sure what else to say. I play it for 10 hours/wk., tops. I have a good time.
