40/80, aggressive line with 77 on the button
Live 40/80, full game. Game is not playing particularly tough, i.e., there's some open limping, not much three-betting, and in general, some weak-tight play. I have no history with any of these players; my image is TAG, I have yet to get out of line, and I am up about a rack when the following hand takes place.
Unimaginative MP open limps, hijack calls, I raise 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on the button, and am called by the SB (a bit tilted but not an idiot), the BB (a solid, tough player), and the two limpers. Obv. more company than I wanted. FLOP is fair: 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB checks, BB bets, the two limpers fold. I raise. SB calls two cold, BB three bets, I throw up a bit in my mouth and call, as does SB. Comments so far? Is my line standard or too spewy? |

Re: 40/80, aggressive line with 77 on the button
40/80 Is a bit out of my league so take my advice for what its worth. I think your line is pretty standard. However for the sake of discussion there one thing I'll question. Why would you not 4 bet the flop? Maybe this is considered spewing by some people but if I was the big blind I am 3 betting for the hope that you 4 bet. The goal would be to eleminate the chaser(sb). Now say the SB cold calls 2 more bets (the raise and reraise from you) then I think its time to start worrying about the sb. Better to through in 1 more small bet for your info rather then have to go through the big bets.

I don't see any reason to raise the flop. You disguise your hand well and you are way behind a tough players range when he leads the flop into a 5 player field.

I like a 4-bet here too, if it's a 4-bet cap.

See why you dont raise the flop? because people are advising to get 4 bets in.

Are you talking about the big blind or the small blind? I think giving the big blind just overcards is pretty optimistic. |

Re: 40/80, aggressive line with 77 on the button
I think I'm getting a free card here a large percentage of the time. I'm likely behind here but I'm not folding. I thus want the best chance I can have to see two more cards.
