Default Prop Bet: Poe\'s The Raven

I believe I can memorize every single word of this poem by the time I take my annual WSOP trip this year. Any interest in action on it?

I've certainly read the poem, but have never memorized it. My memory is generally good, but less so after I took morphine for two months last year. To get paid, I'd need to get every word perfect on the first try.

Hat tip: I heard tell long ago that Huck and Phil made this bet, and Phil paid after Huck did it.

I can memorize a 20+ line poem in a couple hours, so unless your annual WSOP trip starts in the morning, no deal.

no offense but if you want to be impressive pick something like beowulf. the raven is one of the easiest ones you could have picked

from a brief count i have it as 88 lines (not counting repeated lines) + the flow of the poem is amazing, really i would need odds that you cant do it.

Very doable. The hard part will be finding someone to take the bet.

I memorized half this poem overnight when I was in sixth grade. To make this bet interesting, you'd need to do it in a couple hours or something like that.

How about "Song of Myself" in a month? I might give him action on that one.

i agree i have it counted in as ~16,00 words , ~1,870 lines (copying the whole text and using word count feature)

anyway also reading parts of the poem it isn't nearly as archaic as beowulf obviously. (being written hundreds of years apart obviously)

also the prose of the poem does not lend itself easily to memorization.
i would truly be impressed if a human could do this in a month (you would need to make me a huge bet for me take this)

i think something like the canterbury tales is far

it isnt as long as song of myself (off the top of my head), but it has archaic words.
even this i think would be difficult without an insane bet to make it worthwhile.
