Default Wii - NOT a kiddie console!

a) the top selling games for Wii BY FAR so far are rated T for Teen, with a few M for mature titles already out and doing well

b) Manhunt 2 is coming out, which is definitely a VERY mature title

c) No More Heroes creator has stated that No More Heroes will be MORE graphic than Manhunt 2...

d) Godfather and Scarface are also coming out in March and Summer...

looks like Nintendo will finally shed that 'kiddie console' image this generation!

i think it will

i think it'll be considered a console for all ages, from 4 to 104...with a wide variety of offerings

but even if it doesn't, at least 'hardcore gamers' will be able to find 'mature content' on the wii

I think a large part of the kiddie image of Gamecube was just the design of the console itself. Who honestly liked the purple color and the handle? The sleek Ipodesque look of the wii is helping the image a lot.

What's it like having such random animosity towards the Wii? Bitter that so many people don't value graphics over a better gaming experience?

You say 'Kiddie Console' like it's a bad thing. I'm an 'old' guy (only compared to most here), but I could really care less that people think it's just for kids. I'll just continue playing my kiddie games and having the time of my life. If other people want to shell out 600 for the PS3 because it's for 'mature' audiences, more power to them (seriously, I'm not a fanboy, people can play whatever console they want).

That's why I find these arguments between the Wii/PS3 crowd so silly. Who cares what other people think about the consoles. It doesn't affect you now, does it?

Having kids I have stuck with Nintendo precisely because of the kid-friendly content. That being said I have enjoyed the Game Cube myself and I really dig the Wii. I think Zelda is rated teen but it's pretty mild stuff, Wii Sports is fun and I definitely like driving better in GT with the Wii controller than using a joystick to steer. Call me a very satisfied Nintendo customer.

As for so-called "mature" content, won't buy it and don't care anyway.

get off my jock; i'm not a nintendo fanboy...i loved my ps1/ps2...but i'm a wii fanboy because i feel that motion sensing controllers are the future...that they will be the standard for all consoles from here on out...when sony/ms make a console with motion controller, i'll look at them and pick a favorite next gen
