Default Canadian Tax Question

Hopefully this is the right Forum.. if not, my bad.
I know gambling winnings are non taxable in Canada, but do I need to declare them or anything when I fill out my return? I know it's not like I can get receipts to show that it is in fact gambling income, but I'm just curious if I need to do anything at all about it when I file.
Thanks for the help

Poker winnings are not taxable only if it is from rectional play. Otherwise it is taxable.

No.

You shouldn't report it.

Save your receipts.

Don't ask Revenue Canada about it.

As you know, the situation is vastly different in the US.

Also, when you cross the border, never say you are a professional poker player--(because you're not).

The issue in Canada is a bit up in the air, let's keep it that way...

im quite curious about this too. im thinking of filing the profits as a gambling windfall income... which is true...

technically, a pro gambler is taxable...
but i have not heard any pro paying taxes.

Well, I'm definetly not a pro, just a student. Most of the money has actually been casino bonuses, and I work as well, so its not my primary source of income. I imagine I'll just leave it off, as I really don't see myself getting audited, and if I do, I have a good explaination.

There is no where to claim it on your return unless you consider it bsiness or self-employment income.

Unless it is business income to you, it is not mentioned in the Income Tax Act so there is no requirement or benefit to claiming it.

That isn't the purpose of that line.

Gambling income is not generally taxable because no where in the Tax Act does it say it is taxable and it is therefore excluded. You do not report anything that is not taxable.
