Default Good Fold or Getting Run Over?

The converter I usually use is down, so I'll go manual.

Villain is pretty tough, runs 24/20/5 or so. He has 3bet my button raise about 3 times in the last 100 hands or so, and each time I've folded. Effective stacks are 150BB.

I picked up AQo (no clubs) on the button, I went to 3.50 (addictive bet pot button on UB) and he repopped me to 11, and this time I called. I don't know what you all think of this call, but I was getting tired of getting my button raises abused (it wasn't like every button raise, but enough that I knew his range wasn't just JJ+/AK, etc.). Standard call? Ever 4bet this?

Flop comes down AT7 all clubs. Pot is about 22 bucks, and he leads out for 25. I had not seen him overbet the pot like this before.

What do you guys make of this? Easy fold? Why do you think he overbets this? I thought he was either looking to make sure a draw didn't call, was cbetting with KK-JJ with a club, or given our depth he wanted to get a big pot brewing and trap AK with something like AT/TT/KcQc/etc.

Any thoughts are welcome, on this situation and how you deal with guys like this coming over your button raises often in general.

honestly, if hes pushing me around this much, i probably put in a raise here, the call i think is fine preflop, even if you do get beat at least itll show him youll put some money in without the nuts.

I would probably 4bet preflop. With AQs I might be a tiny bit more inclined to just call.

I think that if we are calling preflop, we cant really fold on this flop, even a monotone flop vs an overbet. So I call once and see what happens

Dan,

Thanks for the response. Would you flat call if we were 100BB deep instead of 150? The reason I ask is the pot is up to like 75BB when I call the flop bet, etc, so it's still relatively easy to get away if he bets again given we're a bit deeper.

I assume see what happens means check it down and fold to any further bets?

Call and reeval turn. Most likely something like QT with a club or JT with a club, aybe even K7 with K of clubs. I actually go on calldown mode to 2/3 pot bets or so unless club peels off or board pairs. Coudl very sell be something like KJ with a club, for a combo draw. You COULD raise for value and for info, and fold to repop. I don't think you should fold this hand without playing out later streets, esp since kinda unknown villain and fairly aggressive.

fish,

if we are 100BBs deep, I would only be calling preflop, if I'm pushing this flop.

As played, yeah, I'm prob folding to a turn bet

I ended up folding. I felt that since was the first time I had played back at all to his preflop stealing, he'd give me some credit, and the overbet and the situation just felt trappy. Afterwards I felt like he might have just put me on a mid pair and he was just making the obvious cbet with ATC into a scary looking board. Meh.
