Default AK in BB

First of all, I just started playing poker again so go easy. AK has always been a badly misplayed hand for me most of the time. Feel free to suggest changes in my play at any point in the hand. Also, no reads, and no program to give me reads.

PokerStars 5/10 Hold'em (10 handed)Preflop: Hero is BB with A, K.
3 folds</font>, MP1 raises</font>, 5 folds</font>, Hero 3-bets</font>, MP1 calls.

Flop: (6.40 SB) 6, 8, T (2 players)</font>
Hero bets</font>, MP1 calls.

Turn: (4.20 BB) 9 (2 players)</font>
Hero bets</font>, MP1 raises</font>, Hero calls.

River: (8.20 BB) 6 (2 players)</font>
Hero checks, MP1 bets</font>, Hero folds.

Final Pot: 9.20 BB

I'm just learning LHE myself, but I'd say you're done at the turn raise at the very latest.

I fold to the turn raise 99% of the time.

I'm not sure how much I like even betting the turn though without a read...

I was going to say the other night (before I got, ummm, distracted) that I'll sometimes check/call to showdown after the turn card in a situation like this. It gives worse overcard hands ample opportunity to bluff me off my hand (which I pretty much announce as AK this way), and gets me to a relatively cheap showdown even when I'm behind a pocket pair (as they won't always bet, afraid that I'm checking a bigger overpair for fear of the straight).

BTW, those advocating the bet/fold on the turn aren't taking into account that Hero often has as many 10 outs to a win or chop, and is sometimes actually ahead. Getting a little over 7:1 I would absolutely call the raise, and call a river bet from time to time as well (this is obviously read-dependent).

I subscribe to Harv72b's line of thinking. Why get jammed up with a raise on the Turn with the "Nut Nuttin Hand"
