Default 3-handed 100-200

Button opens I 3-bet red 22 bb folds button calls. Not sure how to classify button... Seems to see showdown just a little more than usual, but knows what he's doing (probably moreso than I do).

Flop T95 rainbow.

Bet call.

Turn 8
Bet call.

river 6.

I bet with the intention of probably folding to a raise.

Help the NL guy out.

Check call riv seems better cause he's probably not folding pair but might try bluff w/ missed draw

At first glance I like your bet but only if it's a bluff. If you're betting for value against this guy, I'd just checkcall it. Pretty sure he's not stupid enough to showdown A high here.

Jason,

I like this river bet, it's a good spot for a "value bluff". Sometimes you get looked up by ace high, and other he *might* just fold a hand like A5. That said, i think folding preflop is better here.

A guy who "shows down more than usual" seems like the worst kind of person to 3 bet preflop with 22.

i dont give people that much credit. he could put you on a # of suited Ks/Qs to make his call on the river worthwhile for him.

by betting the river, you prevent this opponent (who in a 3 handed game you'll come accross alot w/ this exact kind of line) from calling the turn with better showdown odds if you checked the river (he now has to factor in a river bet w/ more certainty when calling the turn which increases your fold equity there in this spot).

further i think if you check and he bets you're in a worse spot than if you bet and he calls. if you bet and he raises, well i dont see a call being in the cards, so if by probably fold you mean definately fold, then yea.

so strassa, tell me...did you ghost bump the "value bluff" thread just for this post?

Given this, I fold PF.

If I didn't fold PF, I check/call the river.

Hmm it was a pure value bet in my mind at the time. I figured on that board there was little chance I got even a 5 to fold.

Paluka,

I'm sorry but can you spell this out for me. I was thinking that if he was a loose player who showed down a lot of hands, I could 3-bet 22 and extract a good amount of value from my hand postflop unimproved. I figured the type not to 3-bet 22 against was the ultra-agressive type that might make me fold the best hand very often.

The point is Jason, if it folds a small % of the time in addition to getting called by Ace high, then it's good.
