Default Online Poker AT Harrah\'s properties in Vegas????!??!??

Can anyone confirm or clarify this? From what my mother read to me in their PR release they will be offering battleship type online poker opportunities. I.E. You can sit by the pool and play on your laptop or in your room on your laptop agains the guy at the pool or in the room next door to you or a floor or 2 down.

This would seemed like a great idea to me as I could play and still see the outside world (by the pool). Then I imagined 6 people of my 10 person table sitting in the same suite with their individual laptops splitting up my money.

everyone knew that the govt only wanted to stop the spewing of american $ to other countries via online poker rake. looks like they are acting sooner than i expected in replacing it with taxable rake.

If this network crossed state lines, it would necessarily violate the Wire Act as the Justice Department currently views it, no?

It doesn't cross state lines. You can only access from a licensed property in nevada with harrah's devices, not your own computer. The licensed property is key.

It is absolutely intended that it will cross the Nevada border. Maybe to other states or maybe just straight to other countries, but for sure outside Nevada. From the above-linked story:

the announcement cites a 'potential global marketplace of other 5,000 legalized gaming venues.'

i don't think the games would be linked between casinos or sites. I believe they are referring to the potential market for the devices.

"The new peer-to-peer system is designed to allow poker players to compete on a wired or wireless device, within the casino grounds, connecting to a secure Intranet server that controls and coordinates the action."

by intranet they could mean just within their own network, couldn't they?

How feasible would this be at some of the smaller properties if it wasn't across different casinos? You wouldn't have enough players I wouldn't think.
