Default Cashing Check from SolidPay

This check was issued from Quebec, Canada. Would a U.S. bank flag this type of check and/or possibly put a freeze on this type of check?

In the alternative, is it better cashign this check at a low grade check cashing outfit? Thanks in advance.

I assume you do not live in Quebec, or even Canada for that matter.

So yes, your bank will probably 'flag' this, and put some kind of 'freeze' on it, as it would any check from another country, or different Federal Reserve district, for that matter. Usually 5 business days is standard. My bank allows me to withdraw up to $100 immediately on such a check, the rest in 7 days. Check the fine print on your account as to your bank's policy on international checks, and the time they reserve for it to clear.

Although it is not a member of the G5 nations, Canada is a part of the G8. Last I checked, it was in the United Nations, and in agreement with most policies of international organizations such as the WTO. Quebec is kind of shady, having wanted independence from Canada a while back, but they still use the same currency as the rest of Canada.

I am unaware of any special laws regarding transporting money to and from Canada, other than the normal restrictions the United States places on every other country.

This could change, due to Canada's recent refusal to join us in invading Iraq, and it's attempts to monopolize hockey.
In some parts of the country, Canada is looked upon strangely for it's fascination with some silly sport called 'curling'. Don't ask. Just go deposit the check in your bank.

SolidPay checks can be processed at a bank branch in New York. Your bank should cash it with no problem, except maybe the 5 day hold or whatever there terms are.
