Default Noob fantasy basbeball questions: how many pitchers?

My roster as far as hitters go is currently as follows. It's a 12-team league and the stat categories are the scoring categories.

here are the pitchers:

A couple of questions, do I have too many pitchers? I'm not gonna find many guys better than my hitters on waivers, it seems like I may as well just load up on starters and try to get a lot of wins and Ks. Carpenter is on the DL, but DL is a roster spot for me so until he comes off of it he doesn't count against my roster. If there was some amazing DL player coming off in < 3 months who will be better than Carpenter I'd lose him but I think he's alright there.

So do I have a stupid amount of pitchers, or is this standard?

^^What he said is right, too many bench players = worthless. Keep one or two around in case you get hit with an injury but no more, pitchers are more valuable because you can sub them in. Anyone have James Shields in your league?

Also try to find bench players that can play multiple positions so that you are covered for an injury in more than one position.

Yeah he does haha. Drop Barfield, trade Cano if there's a Yankees fan in your league (always seems to be for me). Get another starter or a quality OF, maybe try to package Wainwright into a deal too.

You have room for two more SP. I'd dump Floyd and Barfield.

It depends. Is this a H2H league or roto? Do you have an innings limit if it is roto?

If it's H2H, then you want to load up on pitchers and have one bench hitter you can cut to pick up injury subs or have a fill in on Mondays and Thursdays.

For roto, it depends on your innings limit. Bench hitters become useful in roto because you want to use your games played limits.

My league is H2H, I am dropping Floyd (who was just a sentimental pickup really) and Barfield is already gone. I'm looking at Daniel Cabrera, Shawn Hill and John Patterson. I am very hesitant at taking a Nationals pitcher. Also available are Derek Lowe, Mark Hendrickson and Jarrod Washburn among other, even more mediocre starters. Drop Floyd and add Washburn seems like a decent move, thoughts? Thanks in advance

Pick up Cabrera or Hill. Patterson has a dead arm. Lowe and Washburn are ratio killers
