Default Furnace help

I think my furnace (gas) just went out, a few days ago, I heard a squeaking, I asked my dad about it, he said the blower was probably going out. I havent had time to take care of it, and now, the furnace is trying to kick on but it wont. It just makes a sound, like right before it starts, but doesnt start. then it clicks. Whats the deal? do I gotta worry about getting blown up/dieing from carbon monoxide?

1. Find your gas valve and turn the gas to the furnace off.
2. Call a pro.

Lolz, this exact same thing happened to me less than 2 weeks ago.

A professional is necessary... Trust me, I watched everything he did and asked a few questions along the way, and I could not personally fix the problem if it happened again.

Obviously, furnaces vary greatly from one to another, but the furnace ignitor is probably cracked or damaged in some way. I'm looking at the broken one right now and it has a little white spot on it where the HVAC guy said it had fried out (looks like a spark hit it or something).

Also, my limit control switch went out the very next day, so you might want to have the dude check that as well.

Ps. You won't blow up or die from CO... Since those likely components aren't working, the furnace isn't able to do get far enough to do anything damaging; however, you could freeze to death.
