100NL: KQ with ace on board
I've been playing NL for a month. Before that I played exclusively LH for about 2 years. I think this is a hand where my limit mentality got me in trouble.
$100 game on the internets. No reads, BB has $40, everyone else has about $100. I open raise KQo in HJ to $4, button and both blinds call. Flop ($16): A97r checked around Turn: Q (no FD) BB bets $5, I call, button calls. River ($30): 3 checked around |

Re: 100NL: KQ with ace on board
Depends on BB here but I'm gona fold most of the time... BB dont want a bet a weak ace on that flop but when It's chekcekd around, he want a see if his AT-A8 is good.
Against a LAG I'M gonna call this bet and chek fold the river cause the button call. |

Re: 100NL: KQ with ace on board
I think a continuation bet is good on this flop. Represent the Ace with a 3/4 pot bet on the flop.

This is fine, your getting a good price on the turn and a shortstack is gonna show up with a lot of random hands that you are ahead of. I like checking the flop against 3 players.

bet flop, turn call is ok, check fold river like you did. You played everything right except flop, bet flop.

[ QUOTE ]
I think a continuation bet is good on this flop. Represent the Ace with a 3/4 pot bet on the flop. [/ QUOTE ] Your HJ raise means "I have an ace" to a lot of 100NL players. Bet the flop to make the button fold his 5s and the BB fold his KQ, or for the considerable amount of information that you forsook by checking behind, or to avoid the tough spot you would have found yourself in had BB bet the river too. And of course, when the BB calls your flop bet, he has the ace-rag that has already been mentioned. |
