Default WPT: You hit it BIG, friends ask for money?

Hypothetical situation:

You make the final table in a WPT main event. Need a cheering section right? So you fly your friends and family over. You're guaranteed six figures at least and seven figures if you get first.

How likely do you think it will be that friends/family will ask for some money, a new car, etc? Obviously the higher you cash, the more likely. How do you approach this situation? Obviously, you want to show your gratitute for them showing up and supporting you. But do they really deserve cold hard cash for flying over on your dime and sitting back and watching you play?

Not even a little cash for them to enjoy themselves at the casino? Even if you hit seven figures?

If people asked for money it is very unlikely they would get it. I don't feel like finding the link, but a while ago there was a thread from when technologic FTed the ME and a friend said something like "Well I guess I don't need to pay you back for this anymore" the consensus was the friend was a dbag.

fug em. playing poker is your job, and you just earned your money, why should they be entitled to any of it? you don't go asking for a cut of their salary from their jobs so why should they be hitting you up for money. fug dat shlt homie.

I wouldn't be friends with anyone who would ask for money in such a situation.

Very true but there might come a point where they might ask for money where I might be inclined to let them borrow some money if they have a good reason. If they asked me the same day I won the tournament or soon after without a real excuse I wouldn't. But if they come to me with a real reason, like if they want 3 grand to help them for their downpayment of a house or something really important, then I probably would let them borrow. If they asked me to borrow money to buy themselves a new car that they didn't need, or a big hdtv i would probably say no.

I wouldn't be a greedy bastard if I hit it big. I would let friends borrow if they can prove to me they have a good reason, not just taking money from me for buying stuff like rims or flat screen tvs. My main responsibility is taking care of my family first, then myself, and everyone else goes last.

Of course I would get everything in writing/contract knowing that people would be asking money left and right, so having written contracts would be key.
