insano aggression
at times i think the amount people raise preflop is pretty arbitrary. 3x? 3.5x? 4x? 5x?
against people who call too much preflop and fold too many flops, i've started to increase the size of my preflop raises. so maybe once i have the read at 2/4, my initial raise goes from 12 to 13 to 14 to 15 all the way up to 24. i've noticed that each person has an "oh [censored] this is too much -- i'll wait for premium hands now" amount. if increasing the raise amount say, 25% or 33% decreases their calling range by that much, i feel it makes hand reading much easier. anyone else tried raising 5 or 6xbb as a means for making people less comfortable and more passive? if there's a maniac doing this a high percentage, how do you adjust if there's 100 bb? reraise to 88 and bet/fold? minraise and bet/fold so you have more room to work with? |

Re: insano aggression
This is an excellent strategy to mix up your game and to get a feel for how your opponents react to each situation . If they always call with inferior hands then increase your raises and avoid mini raises .

Harrington Vol. 2
Definitely pick it up and read the Heads-up chapter. (That's not to disagree with Jay...there is always room for mixing up your play)
