Default 2/4: Top pair no kicker in unraised pot

New to the table, no reads.

Poker Stars
Limit Holdem Ring game
Limit: $2/$4
6 players
Converter

Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
UTG calls, 2 folds, Button calls, SB calls, Hero checks.

Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4SB, 4 players)
SB checks, <font color="#cc0000">Hero bets</font>, UTG folds, Button calls, SB calls.

Turn: 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3.5BB, 3 players)
SB checks, <font color="#cc0000">Hero bets</font>, Button calls, SB calls.

River: T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6.5BB, 3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, <font color="#cc0000">Button bets</font>, SB folds, Hero calls.

Results:
Final pot: 8.5BB

This felt ugly. Should I have put in less somewhere?

I woould have bet the river probably because you might get called from a 4 or ace hi. Plus we can fold to a raise.

I pretty well agree with the above but am thinking I might call a raise because button is not representing any kind of big hand and has not shown any strength throughout the hand, so I can't imagine what he'd have that he'd want to raise with.

I think you get raised here around 1/100 times. Even a ten just calls us.
