Default Forum Reorganization - Part 2

We have made some progress on increasing usability by increasing the number of forums and have also made some suggestions for other ways to enhance the forums for the users.

To that end, I would like to suggest an increase in the number of Categories and a complete reorganization of the forums into those new categories.

Below is a suggestion for discussion...

I like the 'getting started' section a lot, and most of the rest except IMHO POG and CTH go in OT.

GambleGamble was also picking my brains today, unsuccessfully, about a forums-spanning 'forums FAQ' that sort of ties in here.

GG, you there?

I'm not a fan of adding so many new categories. For instance, the 'OOT' and 'Other Topics' categories shouldn't be separated. I agree that we need to rework a few of the locations, though.

We could go with Dynasty's idea of making an Other Other Other topics forum

Why is P&OG in "the mind" and Science, Math, Philosophy not?

I haven't thought thoroughly about this, but I think the mind and other topics could pretty easily be lumped under other topics.

Edit: and psych should be either in a poker category or a general gambling category.

Durron, just to clarify, I posted this suggestion to generate discussion... if you feel there are better category names, or better ways to reorganize the forums, etc, then put up an alternative.

fwiw... I think SMP is more debate (and fits better with Politics) than the mind

also, it was suggested that Math should be broken out of SMP and put into Probability, and POG fits well in a category with Probability/Math.

Just what I was was thinking.

I agree with diebitter that comp tech should not go an in IG category but rather an other topics category. Software probably should though. Also, Mod Discussion should remain under ther topics.

OK, I think that Other Gambling should be changed to General Gambling. In it, we include the topics that are there, plus Psych, Prob., and maybe Legislation. Put POG w/ Other Topics, and ditch the Mind. Move HU to General Poker. Sort stakes w/in the categories by descending order to keep the status quo rather than the proposed ascending order. We can leave SSSH and MHSH in with the other limit forums. If there are still too many categories, B&M and Home wouldn't be bad to stick in General. Move beginners to the top of Getting Started. I don't think the mod forum needs a side bar entry. We'll have a lot of people complaining about a broken link. I like having some additional categories, especially if they come w/ bold text.

I have made a few changes to the original idea, I think this would work really well, and cuts out a few categories like Cola suggested. Red ones have moved from sniper's OP.
