I still haven\'t heard why we can\'t DEPOSIT with paper checks
That was supposed to be the big loophole in the UIGEA- the act provides that banks are not expected to face "unreasonable" burdens to identify prohibited transactions and that was widely interpreted to mean we could deposit with paper checks.
Yet here we are - Neteller is gone and few good options remain - yet not a single poker site has stepped up to accept paper checks (i.e. not cashiers' checks or money orders). Why is that? My view is that paper checks would not be fast- it would take a good amount of time for the check to clear- but people would be much less wary of sending a regular check than they would a cashier's check, which is a cash equivalent. The great thing about checks is that you can just make the check payable to "John Rodriguez" or some other Pokerstars employee. He could cash the check in Costa Rica and give it to his bosses. How will the banks ever catch THAT? And if a check ever did get intercepted, no big deal- it's not like it's a cash equivalent or anything. This all seems so obvious, yet the fact that no poker sites allow this now makes me think I'm missing something- what could the problem be? |
