Default Wii Component Cables--Worth it?

All-

I was wondering if anyone uses the Wii component cables to input into a HDTV. I have my Wii hooked into a 42 plasma. The composite cables seem to work fine but I am wondering whether it will be worth it to upgrade. I read a reveiw that said you cannot play 'virtual console' games using the component cable, is this true? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a 60 IN HDTV and ordered the component cables. The 480P picture is noticeably better than the 480i picture. (At least on Zelda and Sports, which were the games I had pre-cable).

There was a thread on this once before when the Wii first came out. http://www.gamespot.com/features/6162297/p-2.html has a comparison. You can decide for yourself if it is worth it.

can you use regular component cables to hook the wii up to an HDTV or does it have to be the nintendo ones in specific?

The cables obviously have to be specific to the Wii, but they don't need to be made by Nintendo. Mine are third party, and the picture is like looking at a computer monitor. Vastly superior to the composite cable.

I have a 30" Phillips CRT HDTV, and when I switched to component cables there was a noticeable improvement in the picture.

You can get them pretty cheap for $13.40 after shipping from Play Asia .
