Effective stack question
I posted this hand a while back, some questions popped up after further consideration, I'd appreciate some help on this one.
Read here, MP2 is a maniac. Button is a good TAG 21/11 ~75 hands. I am very deep stacked for this level. PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (9 handed) internettexasholdem.com BB (t4025) Hero (t4270) UTG+1 (t1765) MP1 (t1908) MP2 (t780) MP3 (t2780) CO (t1253) Button (t1438) SB (t3306) Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to t150</font>, UTG+1 calls t150, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">MP2 raises to t780</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Button raises to t1438</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero ??</font> I ran it through the stove, I was 35% in main pot, 51% in side with button on a reasonable 99+ AJs+ range. I received a couple of replies saying easy call. Considering lost chips are more valuable than gained, I am very deep early, the stack to my immediate right can double me, the hand is at near dead even pot odds. If you're not folding now, at what effective stack is this a fold? |

Re: Effective stack question
You might have the maniac beat but the button has you beat - fold. If the button is a competent player, you can reason that he's taking a massive risk trying to shut you out of the pot with only QQ or worse. You probably have run into AA here.

[/ QUOTE ] Honestly, this is just wrong. I don't have time to run the math now, but button's range is probably 99+, AJs+, AQo+ as OP stated and MP range is probably slightly wider 77+, ATs+, AJo+. |

Re: Effective stack question
uggh
ignoring the allin maniac for a sec; your early position raise has essentially been reraised allin by a TAG. you have 150 in pot and are very likely no better than 50:50 vs TAG. ignoring maniac and his chips this is a fold. pot odds are 2 to 1, which for me swings it to call. imho your stack is a good reason to call since you can gamble a little (you drop closer to pack) to potentially gain a very large chip stack I call for the odds.
