Default Colorado- say again?

"Wind whistled through the mountains west of Denver, Colorado, at 100 mph Sunday, producing whiteout conditions and driving wind chills well below zero, as the artillery fire was used to set off the controlled avalanches above the highway."

Is that 100 mph winds a misprint? Or is Colorado not ONLY taking on all of the East Coast's snow, but the hurricane season winds from the South as well?

Wouldn't that force of wind blow cars off of the highway all by itself?

There are formations here that produce extremely strong winds in the right places. That's one reason why the National Renewable Energy Lab has a wind technology center here.
