Default Bizarre B&M situation (Floor man call needed)

Yesterday at foxwoods my brother was sitting in a 4/8 LHE game. There was a very crazy sort of player who kept peeling hundreds out of his wallet and donating to the game.

At one point he announced that he was going to leave. He counted his chips and said, "76. I've got to make this even." Everyone, the dealer included, looked at him puzzled, like wtf??? He then went into his wallet, pulled out more money and said, "Now it's even. It's 80."

What happened next is the bizzare part and I've never seen this or heard of this before... He pushed the 80 dollars (10BB in this game) into the pot and said that the players could play for it. Pot sweetener!

The dealer started trying to shove some of it in his tip box, but the players screamed, no that's what he said we're playing for that should go into the next pot. They were prepared to call the floor, but then the dealer relented, put the chips he grabbed back into the pot, and allowed the players to play out the next pot. Everyone has odds to chase....

If the floor was called what would've happened?

a. the players play for it as decribed above
b. the house gets some love
c. the dealers get it
d. none of the above (please state what the floor should rule)

A. Either this is allowed under house rules (play on boys)or it isn't. If it's allowed, play on.
B. Clearly not his intent. Would be a bad policy for the house.
C. Same as B.
D. If not A. the guy gets his money back. If he won't take it, treat it exactly the same as chips left on the table where the person never comes back.

Not so fast. If a player leaves chips on the table (as in he doesn't want them), they go to the dealer.

Thanks for all the responses guys.

One clarification: he did leave the chips on the table, but he pushed them into the center of the pot. Does this make any difference rather than had he just left them adjacent to the drink holder.

How exactly can it be shown that the maniac intended to tip the dealer 10BB?

If I was a player, I wouldn't call the floor. The money stays in the pot, next winner is very happy. Obviously everyone is in until the river.

If I'm the dealer, I wouldn't call the floor, expecting a nice toke at the end of the hand. I'd make a show of it..."and the lucky river card is...".

Player specifically said they were a pot sweetener. If the dealer felt that was not possible, he should have said something to the player before he left. To try to take the money as a "tip" after that is nothing but theft.

To be fair maybe 10% of one of the $2 yellow chips would make it back to that particular dealer, with the rest going to assorted other dealers as part of Foxwoods toke pooling.

But clearly that wasn't the guy's intent. What's the harm in playing a hand for it? It'd be no different than the lunatic pulling four Andy Jacksons out of his wallet and handing them to the pot winner.

I thought this sort of thing only happened in Ed Miller books.

Well the player can either take his chips with him, give them to the dealer or other staff as a tip, or throw them away. If he throws them away they go to the casino. If he walks away from his spot at the table depending on casino policy they go to either the dealer or the casino (note: do not be concerend about leaving your chips on the table, it is just that after som time, days or weeks, the casino has to do something with the money).
