Hand one didn't feel too poorly played to me, but do you think preflop on #2 was a little reckless? I had UTG read like a book; he's been pumping PF almost every other hand. Besides my preflop play, do you think I got maximum value?

I'd just bet the turn in hand 1. Hand 2 looks standard to me.

Playing shorthanded, I see. So, thats my most difficult exercise.
I think you played the first hand fine although I would play it differently (cause new to the game). I would leave it as a 3-bet on the turn. Then call down.
Hand 2: Playing a 30/20 game shorthanded is nice. So PF is nice. The rest is easy. NH

i probably fold pf in hand one.
checking the turn in hand one is also pretty bad imho.

hand two, what is your question? preflop is fine if UTG is loose and bad which he appears to be.
