Default Pub trivia quiz night (and rogue brews!!!!)

Went to the Rogue trivia night last night. Alas, didn't win, but had a good time. Anyway, for those of you (especially CA people) who like pub quiz nights, I found this lookup site from a company that sells quiz stuff to bars. Pretty useful for looking up places to play.

http://www.brainstormer.com/venueList.aspx

Rogue was pretty fun, but everything's sick overpriced. $9 onion rings, $9 small thing of calimari. Weak. Beers $5.50. For those of you around here, the questions were pretty easy, significantly more easy than Mad Dog in the Fog quiz night (who obv don't use Brainstormer for their quiz night).

I had Chocolate Stout, Russian Imperial Stout, and Shakespeare Stout. All were good, but the Imperial you get in a smaller glass, so that sucks. The Chocolate Stout was a bit too sweet for me, but still good. Also tried the Mocha Porter and Monk Madness which I didn't think were that great.

Really enjoyed Rogue Chocolate Stout the one time I had it; looking forward to trying some of their other stuff. How was the Russian Imperial Stout compared to other RIS's you've had?

mia,

The RIS is pretty good, but I've only had one other so I can't really say.

Anyway, more importantly, after getting f'd over last time (we tied for first but the winning team cheated w/ PDA and beat us on tiebreaker) and winning $28 in Rogue dollars for second (plus a free pint and a bottle opener earlier), tonight we had a dominating wire-to-wire victory for $50 STRAIGHT CASH HOMEY plus two free bonus pints earlier.

They sell Rogue at a convienence store in college town at Cornell.

I am a big fan of:

and

But I have only tried a handful of their brews and there might be other winners out there.

I have not tried the chocolate stout or RIS. I think I tried the Shakespeare but I don't remember it well.

Fiji, you gotta get down to Finger Lakes Bev -- they've got about a dozen Rogue brews.

I was just at Rogue (in SF, right, El D?) on Tuesday. I dig Brutal Bitter and Shakespeare the most.

Fiji,

The Imperials are the best of the Rogues but can be hard to find. The Chocolate Stout is also very, very good; especially on tap.

El D,

That brewpub is overpriced but the rare opportunity to have so much Rogue on tap is worth it in my mind. Also, when I was last there, the burger was pretty solid.

Hmmm, no quiz locations in Washington apparently.

I'll take the Rogue Imperial IPA as my favorite. I don't think you can go wrong with the classic Dead Guy Ale either.

jay,

Out of protest for the ridiculous prices, we don't eat there for quiz night. I mean, it's something like $9 for a small thing of onion rings. Ridiculous. The one time I did eat overpriced dinner there, the Kobe burger was pretty good. It's just annoying to pay that much for brewpub food, though.

The beers are also overpriced, but they are so delicious that we don't really care. My favorite is the Shakespeare Stout with the Imperial next. I think the Chocolate is just a little too sweet, but still enjoy it.
