Hey guys
This morning, i found my computer (HP zt3000 laptop, circa 2004) was running okay then horizontal white lines appeared across the screen, then got thicker and then my computer screen went blank. Then i turned it off and was unable to turn my computer on. Later tonight i talked to a friend who said my battery probably died, and after removing it and plugging my laptop into a power source, it now runs fine... except my usb ports ( i have 3 ) none of them recognize a flash memory drive, my mouse or an external hard drive i just bought. to try and get it to work i have tried restarting my computer, doing a system restore to 2 days ago, going into safemode removing all of the drivers and then restarting allowing the computer to recognize and install drivers for all of the drives. Still, no luck though. I've also tried downloading a new driver. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Ian |

sounds like you took appropriate measures. (is the zt3000 one of the 17" models w/ the full num pad? nice (and AMD processor if memory serves))
Reinstalling the mobo and USB drivers should have done the trick. Everything in device manager is showing kosher? (no ?'s or !'s?) If you can find the same model in a store someplace (might be difficult/impossible given the age) you could write down that serial# and call HP support, register the display model in your name, then call support saying you just bought it but that'd be a 1 hour phone call minimum....likely closer to two. Wish I had more to offer. (just to be clear....USB will not work in safe mode. You should have installed mobo AND USB drivers from HP's site (and any other drivers available, seemingly relevant or not)) |
