Default bankroll for 1/2 6max

had the following debate during a 100/200 stars 6max game: How big of a bankroll do you need for this game?

the 2 other guys said 1k big bets would be about right. i was thinking 300bb is the right number (maybe i'm thinking full-ring?).

Frankly, i acknowledge i am not an authority on bankroll mgmt. i am a serious player, keep detailed records of my sessions, but i pay my bills with my day job. playing competitive highstakes games is my hobby/passion. i really don't give a lot of thot to "bankroll". But 1000 big bets sounds crazy to me, and i doubt 1/2 the players are properly "rolled" for such a game, even by my standards.

1000bb is closer to the right number then 300bb.

zing! what is the largest bb down swing you've ever experienced? not to jinx myself (knock on wood), but if i ever approach a -4000bb downswing, i'll stop out for a very long time and see you at the blackjack tables!

I can't imagine losing even 500BB's at a level and just chalking it up to variance. A 1,000 BB bankroll seems like overkill, particularly when it's easy to hit and run the high stakes games whenever the very loose bad players show up (particularly on weekends).

call me crazy, and i pray to god i'm not jinxing myself, but a 500bb downswing cannot be variance. it means you sukk and need to change your game.

300BBs!? LOL. I've had 300 BB swings in both directions in less than 48 hours playing 1/2 6-max. I'd say at least 500 BBs, probably 600+.

first of all, you need to understand the ridiculously obvious and simple concept that you can have any size downswing up to 1,000,000,000BB and beyond due to variance and only variance even if you're a 5BB/100 winner. making statements like that is just retarded.

second, asking what size bankroll is necessary is retarded without knowing things like your approximate winrate, willingness to move down, and your desired risk of ruin. anyone that plays at this level (and expects to win) should at least understand that much about bankroll management.
