just a gay, annoying spot vs a short stack. 5/10
FT 5/10. Haven't been at the table long but villian almost certaintly sucks as he is sitting w/ $300. He's been loose in the couple orbits I've been there but don't think he's played a big pot. I have been pretty quiet.
He minraises in the SB, I reraise to $60 w/ KK, no spade. He quickly calls. As Qc Ts flop. He checks. Pot is $120 and he has $240 left. |

I'll post the rest of the hand since I think a flop check is preferable here.
He bets $60 on an 8x turn. I call. River is a small, offsuit card. He bets $100. I? |

Against a short stack like this, raising anything less than enough to get it in on any flop is a mistake. Make it $100+ and villain will have less than a PSB left, then shove anything.
As played, you are usually beat here. |

I find people can fold easily to that raise w/o a good hand but no one can resist w/ only 40 more and he's going to be putting in $$$ often as an underdog OOP. The pot will be 120, he'll ahve 240 left. I'll cont bet 60 and he'll shove most likely any piece given he has "folding equity." A minraise from the SB is showing alot of weakness - I think if I raise to 100 I way too often pick up $30. |

[/ QUOTE ] I know what you are saying, but I still 3-bet more than that usually, depending on the shortie. So often they see a bigger bet as almost commiting themselves so they just push with 99 or AQ (or something else that looks pretty) when they may get away if they see a flop. Also, I seem to get called a whole lot. So many donks hate folding a raise on general principle, even if they are prepared to fold on the next street easily. |

[/ QUOTE ] I raise to more than $60 precisely to avoid a situation like this. Plus, in my experience, a 30bb stack is willing to go to the felt pf with a high percentage of the hands they open-raise (even if it is just a minraise from the SB). They sat down with $300 bc they are nits or because they are looking for a spot to get it in and double up. In both cases, you rate ahead of villain's range. So make a big raise and get called by 88+, AJ+ (I've seen short stacks call here with any pair). I think you are underestimating how much value you can extract pf in this situation. |

i would raise more to $100-$120 preflop [/ QUOTE ] wtf check is obv best on the flop. I guess folding the river is best. I never do though because I double up short stacks like it's my job......kind of a leak I guess. |
