Standard flop call and turn fold. Don't think there's any other way to play the hand tbh.

Re: multipart hand - play along at 3/6
I think maybe I would call this turn. It is of course very read dependant since some villains just never bluff like this.
Plausible hands villain might lead with are sets, draws, overpairs and bluffs. - Sets are pretty unlikely given that the turn paired the 3, so there are only 5 combos of sets left. - Draws you are still ahead of - Overpairs you are obviously behind to. But there are a couple of factors that doesnt make this a very likely holding. 1. He did not reraise preflop which is kinda unusual after a button steal (especially when we are talking about 99+). 2. He made a strong lead again on the turn which is a good play, but one that many players doesnt make since they freeze up OOP with somewhat marginal holdings - Bluffs you are still ahead of obviously, and I think that bluffs makes up a decent part of his range (this is were the read comes heavily into play). A bluff is also consistant with the strong turn lead since he doesnt have to worry about bloating the pot because he has air. If the hand ended on the turn I think I would have instacalled, but there is one more street of betting which is a problem for you. You will be totally lost on pretty much any river if he fires big again... I think you have to look into his soul for this one. |

against an unknown I am raising this flop 100% of the time [/ QUOTE ] Please could you elaborate on your thinking on this? To me this is a borderline call/fold on flop against a total unknown because its such a marginal hand on all streets if we play on. Hands like 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 10[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] have terrific equity and will probably push us off our hand anyway. Three valid sets villian could have, not to mention 86s, or a strangely played overpair or top pair with better kicker. There are also loads of ways that we could improve our hand and still be behind that we will have trouble getting away from. This just isnt a hand I would want to play without a feel for villian. |
