Professional poker stint starts in january: BBV Advice?
I'm a 20 year old college student and this year i made around 70k playing around 20k hands a month of 2-4 NL. Most i've ever played in a single month is 27k hands.
I'm changing majors in college and my program doesn't start until next september, so i'm going to start playing poker like a full time job. I play on Absolute, cause the deal is sick and the site is getting bigger (plus merging with ultimate bet). Problem is, you can only 6 table there. I'm not looking for any poker advice persay, i've had a ton of success with the game and my graph is a steady skateboard ramp. I'm looking more for advice on what kind of hand volumes i should aim for? I was thinking somewhere in the neighbourhood of 100k hands a month (given that i can only 6 table). Should i play shifts like noon - 5pm every day or just go for hand number quotas. I'm just tossing ideas out there, but anything you guys can advise would be much appreciated. Its tough for me to stay motivated. Thanks guys |

Advice in BBV? Maybe Books/Publications can help you out, possibly even Sports Betting.

what you should probably do is sit with your entire bankroll at 300/600nl preferably against sbrugby. (because hes a fish) this way you can either double up and live crazy balla status, or bust, and play freerolls to rebuild. i dont charge for my advice but donations are welcome.

Re: Professional poker stint starts in january: BBV Advice?
I'm not a pro by any stretch, but if I were you I would set a hand requirement for the month. If you set 100k a month as a target, you can take short breaks in between and be fine.
Also, I would suggest cashing out a monthly "paycheck" instead of taking money out whenever you need to pay a bill or whatever. The amount depends on what you need/what your living situation is/how balla you are, but I would think that if you're properly rolled, taking out a certain amount on the 15th of each month would help from a psychological standpoint. |

for a college student 70k + annually is more than enough, so i'd work on improving my calliber of play and moving up, and not volum of hands..... and you'll probably end up making more money

my graph is a steady skateboard ramp. [/ QUOTE ] Mental aspect of playing for a living is by far the hardest imo. Work on that. You will run like ass for tens of thousands of hands. You will tilt. You will lose motivation. You'll probably blow your money on retarded [censored] occasionally. Good luck! |

this is so person dependent, if you can manage 100k hands/month, go for it. whatever regime keeps you the happiest and most productive is a good regime.
