Default onliine - b&m casino

As someone who plays exclusively online 2-4 and 3-6 at WPEX and UB, i am curious as to how this relates to live b&m poker.

It has been a long time since playing in a b&m casino and was wondering what limit 2-4, 3-6 is equivalent to in a b&m casino.

I'm told by people I trust that if you can do well in 2/4 and 3/6 games online (esp WPEX, which in my experience is much tighter than an average online game) you can pretty easily handle a 5/10 game at B&M. I'd venture to say even 10/20 wouldn't be *that* challenging. You're probably still likely to be up against recreational players who like to see flops with krap, I'm guessing (a caveat - this is a pretty unqualified opinion as I can't speak from too much experience at higher levels than 3/6 and $20 spread limit as far as B&M, but the players there were pretty loose/passive).

My experience at B&M casinos is that the 2/4 and 3/6 games are much more loose/passive than those online. I think that a 4/8 or 5/10 game is going to be much closer to what you are used to.

i play 2/4 online and the 4/8 and 5/10 games at the local casino (foxwoods) are no problem. casino 4/8, 3/6 (i'm assuming) and 2/4 are about the same, 7-8 to every flop, awful players, etc, but the rake hurts less at 4/8. 5/10 is a little tougher but usually still 5+ to the flop and a couple really bad players.

i'd say start at 4/8 or 5/10 or whereever you're comfortable with the money, then move up as you see fit. good luck!

At what point does it start to get tight b&m (i.e stakes too high for tourists and just good players playing (20-40?)

very rarely can find a game where 5 players consistently see the flop at 2-4 plus online. On WPEX, its a good game if there is one or two calling stations on the table. WPEX is tight but the rakeback still means i can make more here than other online sites.

The other thing that bothers me about b&m is the crazy rake and slowness of dealing, (plus i bet its easier to tilt live if your stuck with one or two idiots).

right, i agree with you, online is way tougher than b&m given the limits we're comparing. i doubt there are many 1/2 or .5/1 games online even with 7-8 to a flop. i haven't played high enough in a casino to be able to answer your question. my experiences with 5/10 in a casino were that it's not that hard of a game, there are regularly 5+ limpers, and while there are a couple guys who know what's going on, there are a lot of spazzy bad players or just passive limpers. i watched a 10/20 and a 20/40 game and they seemed tougher and tighter but i didn't watch for long enough to have a really good feel for it. i will be going back next weekend probably and will try and scout it out then.

i think, and maybe posting in the b&m forum would get you more replies, that there is no such thing as a game with 10 TAGs in it in a casino, as there are often online. i think there are always a few bad players, even if they are passive regulars.

if you do well 2-4 , 3-6 online, you should have no problem 5-10, 8-16 live.

If you really beat 3/6 on WPX, I'd guess u can take most 20/40 lineups.

Personal experience is only up to 10/20 in AC. I can't remember being at many tables that would be considered a VERY good 2/4 or 3/6 online game. 2/4,3/6 and 4/8 live games are almost always super loose(5+ to the flop) and while I've only played maybe 40 hours of 10/20 live, I would consider every 10/20 game I've been in to be very good game with lots of limpers and passive players.
