Good, cheap widescreen LCD monitor?
I'm looking for a good but inexpensive LCD widescreen monitor for a mix of freelance design work and degenerate multi-tabling... At least 20"+.... Anyone know of a good deal or vendor for the best deal? I've scoured pricegrabber, etc...
Best I've found is a Sceptre (Sceptre??) 20" widescreen LCD via Costco or Newegg... With shipping and after a rebate, looks like it might run me about $250... Before I pull the trigger, is there a better deal I might get out there? And should I be spooked by a brand called "Sceptre"? |

Re: Good, cheap widescreen LCD monitor?
I'm scared of cheap LCD's. When they were first getting popular, the cheap brands would have pixels burn out very early, yet the warranty wouldn't cover it until a certain percentage of ALL the pixels were dead. I don't know if this is still the case. Personally, I'd run from cheap/unknown brands but only due to the pixel burnout issue which may or may not be a reasonable reason anymore (this was several years ago when I was hearing of the pixel burnout horror stories).
Worth mentioning: 20" widescreens typically have less than 1200 pixels in vertical resolution. This means you can't fit 2 full size (800x600) tables vertically without overlap. This may or may not be an issue for you. |

Re: Good, cheap widescreen LCD monitor?
I'm pretty slow with the multitabling, so I can't se doing more than four at a time... So I'm guessing the tiling would work fine. I don't mind a little shrinkage in the window sizes...
