College Bball Distributions
Anyone have any idea of distributions of scores for college bball similar to some of the NFL charts etc?

Re: College Bball Distributions
score distributions in basketball are pretty much irrevelant since there are no "key numbers" created like the NFL 3 and 7. every number carries roughly the same value, though diminishing slightly as you get into the double digits.
for spreads, generally budget 8-12c per half point (average 10c if you're in a rush). 4-6c per half for totals (average 5c). CBB totals worth slightly more than NBA due to lower overall scoring range. |

Re: College Bball Distributions
Basketball has somewhat key numbers because of the late fouling, but this is more true in the NBA than in college.

The end of college basketball seems like a crapshoot. A team down by 20 runs down the floor with 8 seconds and drains a three to backdoor [censored] you. |

[/ QUOTE ] feel free to provide examples where sportsbooks intentionally charge more to move on or off a specific basketball point spread because of the higher likelihood that 'late fouling' will produce a push on that exact number. |

A team down by 20 runs down the floor with 8 seconds and drains a three to backdoor hose you. [/ QUOTE ] I initially read this as "A team down by 20 runs..." I thought you'd switched sports on us! |

Re: College Bball Distributions
i always thought small numbers like 2 and 3 were worth slightly more for basketball, since it's a given a game lined around there is more likely to be close.

[/ QUOTE ] again, please find and post examples from a sportsbook where ANY single digit point spread is worth more than another in EITHER NBA or NCAA, in terms of what they charge you to buy or sell off that specific number. based on pinnacle pulldown menus, the only number which is even slightly different is the 1, and in that case it's not worth MORE, it's worth LESS. how does your theory explain that then? |

Re: College Bball Distributions
maybe it's priced cheaper at 1 because the difference between PK and -1/+1 at the end of the game is less than the difference between 2 and 3? since a game can't land on PK.
what you are saying about no price differences is what i have observed. but i haven't heard it put in definitive terms before. i am just asking here. however doesn't it also make some logical sense that a half point between 2 and 3 should be worth slightly more than a half point between 14 and 15? |
