The subject says it all. There is a video story at CNN.com that should be right on the front page.

He used the "N word" repeatedly, and told audience members that 50 years ago, they'd be hanging from a tree.

I want to think there's some explanation for this, but my guess is that he just flipped out.

Kinda derailing the thread, but why do people say "the N word", when they're obviously not going to be using it in a racist/defamatory fashion? Maybe i'm just extraordinarily uncouth or something, but I'm at a loss as to why. It's the only word that is still treated in this fashion, so long as you're not a god-fearing 90 year old grandma or something. And even then, you're likely to just say, "[censored]," because you grew up in a time when it was commonly accepted to say this.

Edit: OK, it makes sense here, because otherwise the auto-filter catches it. But in general, I would still like to know.
