Anyone play consoles on a plasma TV?

I know video games aren't supposed to look as good on plasma compared to LCD. I'm having a hard time passing up some of the good plasma deals on the Panasonics through Circuit City right now though.

Just curious to hear from people who might be playing an Xbox, PS, or Wii on plasma to hear if you've had any burn in problems or other visual issues.

I've been playing a Wii on a 50 inch Panasonic plasma. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it looks amazing to me. I'm not exactly sure what kinds of visual problems you mean. As far as burn in, just don't pause the game and leave it there for hours and you'll be fine.

looks MUCH better on plasma than lcd

lcds don't look great imo...it's like they've used photoshop's 'sharpen' function too much, so looks bad for text and around edge of people's faces etc

also, while lcds have gotten faster refresh rates today, they still have some lag, which means ghosting in fast scenes

plasmas have many more colors so great for wii...lcds will have better blacks, tho the panasonic plasma is known for great black levels

plasmas can burn-in, but mostly in first 100 hours of usage, and crts (standard tube tvs) can burn-in as well, but it doesn't usually happen...just don't pause on one screen for awhile

I'd still be worried about burn-in. The thing is, even if you don't leave it paused, there are still usually health meters and other UI elements that stay in the same place all the time. I think the newer plasmas are better about this, but I'd be very careful.

NicholasP - I use an LCD tv for gaming and I think it looks great, but the first thing I did was turn off the "sharpen" function, as well as all of the other gimicky [censored] like "black enhancer" and "live color". A lot of TVs are tuned to "pop" when you see then in the store, but the default settings really suck when you get them home.

FYI,

most new plasmas have a function (i forget what its called now) that basically moves the entire screen 1 pixel up, then 1 pixel left, then 1 pixel down, then 1 pixel right, rinse, repeat. i don't know how often its done, but the purpose is to prevent burn-in on specific pixels. look it up though, most newer ones do that.

i've been playing wii and x360 on my plasma for the last 9 months and haven't had any problems. They are apparently very succeptible to burn-in for the first 3 months.

At my office our plasma had image persistance after 10 minutes of a PS2 game straight out of the box, but it has disappeared with use.

after that the chances drastically reduce

also, turn down brightness to reduce chance in first 100 hours
