Coolest team names in Pro Sports (and Div 1A College)?
I know this may have been done before, but I have not seen it recently.
What's your vote for the 10 coolest team names in pro-sports (and Div 1A football). For me the Pistons seems so appropraite for Motor City and basketball. Also the Calgary Stampeders is a great football name, and links nicely to the huge rodeo (even though the CFL is not one of the big 4 pro sports). Crimson Tide is just plain awesome. NOTE: I was not thinking about the team Jerseys (another thread, perhaps), or the teams' history (i.e Packers, Cowboys, Dodgers, Celtics, Lakers, Canadiens, etc). MLB 1.Baltimore Orioles (don't ask me why) 2.NY Yankees NHL 3.Colorado Avalanche NBA 4.Detroit Pistons NFL 5.Denver Broncos NCAA CFB 6.University of Alabama Crimson Tide 7.Nebraska Cornhuskers 8.Univesity of Arkansas Razorbacks 9.North Carolina State Wolfpack CFL 10.Calgary Stampeders I don't follow basketball, but Duke Blue Devils seems cool.

Yeah I definitely prefer it when teams come up with something original and/or meaningful.
The SEC has alot of these Alabama Crimson Tide Florida Gators Tennessee Volunteers Ole Miss Rebels Arkansas Razorbacks South Carolina Gamecocks the rest are pretty vanilla in comparison (bulldogs, tigers, etc.) Other notable cool college names Oklahoma Sooners Notre Dame Fighting Irish

I really like Arsenals game....The Gunners. Man U's Red Devils is sick too.
In the NBA I have always liked the Pistons, Sonics, Blazers, BULLETS, Celtics(which is a cool timeless name), and recently the Grizzles. NFL, Giants are a tight name, as is the Raiders. MLB, something about the Dodgers, cool name. Like the A's and Giants as well. College sports, Crimson Tide is quite sick. Whats Marshall's name?
