Default counting generations

how do you count generations? i'm reading about the term "3 generations after WW2 - so when how do count that - like 1948 = 1st gen, say 1973 = second gen, 1998 = 3rd gen? is there an official way to count them?

The last generation was the Pepsi generation. From now on, we there will be no other generations.

20 or 22 years is the more accepted length.

I always thought a generation was 30 years.

Thus 1945-1975, 1975-2005, 2005-2035

Could be wrong. I guess maybe it could be between 20-30 years. This is most peoples' child-bearing years.

The most commonly quoted date range for the Baby Boom is 1946 - 1964, which is 19 years.

i never knew there were so many official generations - if that's official - boomerang generation? - i never heard of it.
