Button (t6825) Hero (t6675) Preflop: Hero is in BB with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Button calls t200, Hero checks Flop: (t850) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero? This is fairly early in the HU, not a lot of action so far. Lead out, check/call, check/raise, check/fold to a big bet? Please elaborate why you like leading out, c/c, c/r, or c/f. |

Re: $60 - HU bottom pair - somewhat common situation
I like to lead out here for about 600. You most likely have the best hand, but to check-raise in this spot is too expensive of a way to get the info you want. To check-call is just plain dumb given the high blinds and all the draws out there....you won't know where you're at and villian can outdraw you pretty easy.
I just lead here and see what happens.... |

300... you have the best hand and want to win now because its very vulnerable... shut down if called... easy game.

So do I play bottom pair any different than if I completely whiffed?

I think betting half the pot & shutting down if called is the best play here. You avoid getting bluffed off of the best hand more often and you gain info cheaply.

So do I play bottom pair any different than if I completely whiffed? [/ QUOTE ] well theyre not entirely the same... i mean ill lead out with air here a lot against some people but you have to realize bottom pair is better and therefore youre more likely to do it... a) because youre beating draws that might get checked down, or a high or whatever, but more importantly b) you have trips and two pair draws |

[/ QUOTE ] not so easy when you make illegal bets! oh snap! fwiw, i agree that here you should bet flop and then give up. i told suzzer earlier that if the stacks were shallower, like 10x, then it'd be a good spot to cr a/i. |
