Default Super System Hand involving Doyle Brunson...

In Super System 2 this was a hand that was reviewed and I'd like to know if any of you could lay this hand down in this spot?

I don't have the book in front of me, but read it last night and will resume the story from the flop. I don't have the proper position memorized. The game is 80/160 limit hold'em. The flop is A-4-2. Doyle is facing a bet with Trip Aces. He raised , got two callers. The turn is a 2. Doyle is facing a bet, he raises , get's another raise and a call. He dumps the hand. (WOW, Aces full in the muck there?) The river was a 4. The fish was holding poket 4's and the "pellican" was holding pocket 2's. Quad 2's lose to quad 4's on the river, all the while Doyle dumps Aces full of 2's when he's now beat. What are your thoughts on this hand?

It was probably set up for Doyle to get the quad 4s, and the cut was mishandled.

Let's see. I use to play the Bellagio 80-160 game on the regular (it's since migrated fulltime to 100-200) and I think I remember this hand from about two years ago. Doyle was in seat five, in the middle of the table. I was in seat eight and could see the action pretty well. Rounding out the crowd was tanya, terri, mickey, kevin, ali, sam s, and stu unger. Doyle open-raised in the cutoff, ali and sam called from the blinds. Flop comes down as you said, A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. He bets, both called. Now, I've played a lot of limit hold em with Pappy (Bellagio regulars call him Pappy -- long story, and boy is it a good one). I could tell his spider-sense was tingling. When the 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] slides off the on turn and Ali BUMBLIBUMBLIs $160 into the pot with a sly look, and Sam just smooth calls with grin, Pappy had to raise to find out what was going on... Ali called after some Hollywooding, and Sam lept into what can only be described as a raising frenzy. Pappy knew he was drawing dead to one out and mucked his hand face up in disgust and whacked the dealer in the head with one of his crutches before speeding off in his Lark. When the 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] lurched off on the river, Ali bet, Sam just called knowing he lost to bigger quads. I remember thinking, "this guy's good".

Good times.

The hand discussed in SS2 took place in a Texas road game in the 60's or 70's when 80/160 was a huge game.
