Re: 225 - QQ facing funky raise
Push. His range includes quite a few pairs and high card combo's etc.., he's basically assuming he can get heads-up with UTG+1, any hand he thinks is ahead of his fairly wide range, and that's a range you kill. If you're SB here and hold 88 or AT what'd you do? I'd push...

Re: 225 - QQ facing funky raise
I never had fold as option. I'm just wondering whether flatcall shove flop might not be a slightly better play. No offense, but responses like "easy shove" don't really help as I'm not sure you even considered flatcalling. I really thought it was pretty clear what I was debating, but as usual I somehow never seem to make myself clear in my OP.
Villain had KQ. Spiked a K on the turn. He may have folded if I call and shove the flop. It got me wondering if that not might be a slightly better way to go, esp. the way people play straight-up with a shorty all in. Probably not, I guess I'd rather have the 510 chips and take the risk of his 2 or 3 outer on the turn/river (he's not folding a draw, pair or AK obv). But there is some level of villian's remaining chips vs. dead money in the flop vs. sng cev/$EV stuff where I would rather villain call and make a mistake by folding the flop. |

Re: 225 - QQ facing funky raise
....so you want to just call now so he can play perfectly on the flop when he misses?
You're upset that you got all in against a person with 3 outs? Really? Easiest push ive seen in a while. |

Re: 225 - QQ facing funky raise
I agree in this case the 510 chips are probably worth risking the 3-outer. But let's say he had 300 chips. It's never playing perfectly for him to fold the flop. It would be a mistake. But one he might make and save me a huge stack. If I shove I don't give him the chance to make that mistake. You see what I'm saying? In that case I can't see any advantage to shoving over flatcalling. Yes it's a small difference, probably won't matter 99.5% of the time, but just something I was thinking about.
I honestly think that even at 510 chips, with the dead money from shorty and the difference between SNG $EV vs cev--it's a lot closer than a lot of you think. |
