bluffraisinf question QK/AK/AIR
5/10nl 6max 1k stacks
You raise in the CO with XX to 40 dolla. Big blind aggressive thinking player calls. Flop is something like 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] t [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] pot ~ 90 dolla He checks, you accomodate standard etiquitte betting 70 dolla, he calls you. Turn 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] pot 230 He checks and you check behind River K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] pot 230 Heres where things go nuts: Suppose villain bets out 3/4 the pot and you hold AK/QK. Do you raise? What if you hold XX (air no pair or super weak pair), then do you bluff raise? It seems to me that the only reason we are raising ak/qk here is so we are capable of bluffraising the river. now, from the other side of things: Imagine yourself in the villains shoes. A tag opens in a steal position, you have 55/XhXh/AhKc. Flop is check-call turn is check-check. On the river the King comes and its a seemingly plausible holding for villain. If you have a set or tptk you are positive that you have the best hand. If you think he will bluffraise the river, then you should definitely bet3bet b/c you get more "free money" from air. Plus he might call you. If you yourself have a busted draw aka air, and you bet out and he raises, well it seems that you are kind of [censored]. If you cr though, your move definitely ^seems^ stronger and he mighth even fold a weak king (ie kx x lower than ten). So from what I gather, if your villain bluffraises river with regular frequency, you shouldnt be cr'ing your set/tptk very much at all there. |

Re: bluffraisinf question QK/AK/AIR
but if you are leading with big hands on this river it makes his play a lot easier when you do check. For one he can make thin value bets and bluff more. SO if you are not c/r river at all here then you will have problems with mid pair type hand which you are trying to get cheap showdowns with as he will check behind less often.

[/ QUOTE ] Sure, for the same reason that if villain likes raising we prefer to lead our sets over CRing. But most villain's do not bluffraise the river with any real frequency. |
