State Gambling Law Summary

Can anyone with a legal background explain why some sites that still allow US players are banning players from certain states? Those states laws were on the books before tha passing of the Gambling Act of 2006. What is the legal differences now?

Because before it was a violation of a state law, in many cases a misdemeanor and now in those same states it is a federal felony. Greater risk means changing their balancing of the risk/reward for staying/leaving.

Also, I found only 21 other hits this month on that link when I searched it in the forum.

I'm lost. You're saying if it was a misdemeanor before when a site operated in a State, it's now a Federal felony. That would include about half the States in the "aggravated gambling" list on the linked page. Have we heard of sites "banning" that many States' players and allowing the rest?

Also if it was a felony in the State before, wouldn't it now be a Federal felony? That includes the rest of the States on the list, correct?
