Taking 11 to 10.. in general +ev
I am in college and not looking to get to big into betting. However if I have individuals who will bet 110 to my 100 on a wednesday line and these people are not generally the smartest sports betting (no knowledge except watching the games and reading espn occasionally) am I making a +EV decision by taking their 11 to 10 bets? One other bit of information: these bettors are generally betting for their home team (cowboys, pitt) so that may indicate another lack of knowledge.
Also, if I can make them all bet on wednesday should I? Which lines are historically closer to 50/50.. wednesday or gameday? Thanks for all your help I am definitely knew at this. |

If you can get the standard spread. I'd take this 100% of the time.

Why does gameday tend to be more accurate? I was under the impression that the public opinion generally led it to be inaccurate?

Yes, you should take 11:10 on a coinflip. Sportsbooks do this on occasion.

Re: Taking 11 to 10.. in general +ev
Well I can generally tell them when to bet and they will bet as long as they get to bet so that's why I was wondering..
How about "laying off" (I am not sure what the correct term is).. if i can juice up a spread so for example he had DAL -10 and then I bet online to OPPONENT +13.5.. If I get a gap like that is that a good thing to bet and what is EV? Thank you so much for your help. |

[/ QUOTE ] If you can bet online at +13.5 -110 (meaning you are getting 10:11) and get a friend to bet -10 +110 (11:10 for you), you have found a goldmine. The only mistake is that you want to bet on DALLAS +13.5 online, not their opponent. When your friend bets Dallas -10, you are effectively betting on the opponent. To cover this, you must bet Dallas at an online sportsbook. EDIT - I just realized I said this wrong. You want to be betting Dallas online, but it wouldn't be +13.5, it'd be -10 or better (-9.5 and so on). |
