can someone explain why neteller is up so much?

seems like this would hurt their business, even if they are planning to continue business as usual....

Perhaps people thought Neteller was being unfairly hit and saw value in it? Can't be a bad sign either way, I don't think.

A total guess FWIW. Neteller got rocked badly yesterday and today the perception is that the business will not be as bad as people thought it might be yesterday. In a nutshell the risk to future earnings is perceived to be lower.

I would have guessed that the stocks for all these companies would have rebounded today, simply because I figure the market usually overreacts to everything.

It usually doesn't happen in a day FWIW. Perhaps some analyst came out with a positive analysis for Neteller or Neteller made some statement. Again FWIW and definitely don't take my word for it, a tradeable short term bottom after a bombshell news event like this takes a little while to materialize and trying to find one can be a bit risky but profitable. I could give you some of my theorys of why but probably not the right forum for that. I expect to see one in these stocks but don't follow them that closely so don't have a real good idea.

The market is far from perfect and obviously people think that neteller was devalued too much and saw an opportunity.

When Research in Motion was involved with their Blackberry lawsuits the company took massive hits on their valuation. They were so devalued at one point that the company had more cash on hand than their market cap!!!!

Needless to say I bought at around $20 and sold at $80 just over a year later.
