Default 33 attempted Blind Steal

I had read on SB blind as weak/tight so I attempted to steal not only the SB/BB but the CO poster as well.

PokerStars 1/2 Hold'em (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is Button with 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Should I have attempted a steal in first place?

MP posts a blind of $1.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP (poster) checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB 3-bets</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP folds, Hero calls.

I figure I call the 1 SB getting 7 to 1.

Flop: (8 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, SB calls.

Turn: (6 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero 3-bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB caps</font>, Hero calls.

River: (14 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">SB bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#CC3333">SB 3-bets</font>, Hero calls.

Should I have capped for value?

Final Pot: 20 BB

Yes, you should have capped. If he had aces or sixes he would have reraised the flop.

Preflop, steal is fine here. I like the river cap, because he wasnt real aggresive on flop, likely meaning A-Good kicker. You are only beat by A9 here but go and cap.

Only A9? What about AA, A6, A3, 99, and 66? Still I think I'd cap the river too.

If villian had these other combos I believe he would have 3bet flop.

If he's weak/tight, I wouldn't think that A9 or A6 are in his preflop 3bet range. That being the case, I'd probably cap the river and expect to see AQ or AJ or something. If he has 66 or AA, so be it.

As for the preflop steal, it's fine. If someone posts, checks, and it gets folded to me in late position, I'm personally raising with at least half my hands.

Maybe. But I was replying to your comment that he's only behind A9 which is untrue, he could be behind all those hands I listed. (I know your comment was refering to A-good kicker type hands)

when villain caps the turn AND leads the river AND 3bets in spite of the flush card hitting, he has a boat way more than 50% of the time.

this is just right. hip hip.

I would have played the same way. Bummer if you lost. That's poker.

I'd do this with a stronger hand preflop. I would have limped otherwise, then the hand would have played out exactly the same I imagine from then on.

SB is acting a lot like he has AK. I would cap every street for value.
