Getting floated/check raised with a marginal hand that may be best.
You open UTG+1 with 99. Aggressive button calls (25/14 type).
Flop J73 rainbow. You bet close to pot, he calls. You swear he does this or raises everytime he is in position. Turn plan? You raise on button with 99 again. Solid BB calls. Flop JJ4 two to a flush. He checks, you bet close to pot, he cr a little under pot. Fold? Obvious one? |

Re: Getting floated/check raised with a marginal hand that may be best
1) lead turn, but fold to a raise unless he is an absolute nutcase. high variance line but +EV imo.
2) yeah i fold there, too expensive to play that against a jack. Edit: if he is making plays at you, it's easier to play back in position. You can pick a spot where you have the button, and it would probably be cheaper in the long run. |

Re: Getting floated/check raised with a marginal hand that may be best.
Hand 1 I check-call any non-threatening turn. This includes any J, T, 9, 8, 6, and so on. I think he raises here with most jacks. I'd be worried about another 7. If an ace or king comes, you can probably dump the hand. On the river, same deal.
Hand 2 is an easy fold. I've been three-betting a lot of these lately and getting crushed by doing so. Most of the time, he's got trips. |

I'd call on both hands and call off more money

Re: Getting floated/check raised with a marginal hand that may be best
When you are betting these middle pairs you are bluffing, even though it may appear like you have a decent made hand. So you have to ask "Is this guy weak?" If the answer is yes you should bluff again.
