Default The Steve Buscemi Badge of Quality.

I was rewatching Millers crossing the other day, and it occured to me that I have liked every Steve Buscemi movie I've ever seen- He's my badge of quality.

He's been in the best Coen Brothers film, the best Tarantino film and the best asteroid about to destroy the earth film.

Dammit, I didn't even mind Mr Deeds and that's got Adam Sandler in it. (OK, it was sucky, but Buscemi and Turturro together made it more than bearable).

So, I've decided to watch more Buscemi. Here's his IMDB page Buscemi-land

I've seen- Fargo, Barton Fink, Miller's Crossing, Lebowski,
Wedding Singer, Deeds, Armegeddon, Oblivion, Hudsucker Proxy, Res Dogs, Airheads, Pulp Fiction.

On my Buscemi to come shortlist:
Grey Zone,
Coffee and Cigarettes,
Con Air,
Big Fish.

Has Buscemi ever made a straight up bad film? I hope not. I'd like to be able to have one actor in the world where I can walk into the film with the pleasure that comes from knowing for certain it won't be a clunker.

Maybe TLDR can give me other suggestions for "never made a clunker" actors....

I just saw Miller's Crossing for the first time this week. I thought it was one of the greatest movies ever made. I can't believe it's not talked about more.

And "Danny Boy" has been stuck in my head ever since. I wish I were a tenor.

....He does seem to choose his rolls well, doesn't he?

Check out George Segal's filmography. He hasn't made many clunkers either.

Seems like a cool guy as well, if the IMDB facts are true:

Was a New York City Fireman from 1980 to 1984, with Engine Company #55 in the Little Italy section of NY.

Showed up at his old firehouse the day after the World Trade Center tragedy in New York to volunteer. Worked twelve hour shifts for a week after the terrorist act, digging through rubble with his old comrades looking for missing firefighters... anonymously.

Stabbed in the throat, head and arm during a barroom brawl at the Firebelly Lounge in Wilmington, North Carolina. The brawl also involved Vince Vaughn, who was arrested for brutalizing one of Buscemi's attackers.

Auditioned for the part of George Costanza on "Seinfeld"

He insisted on the anonimity too, shunning all media and interviews. Quite the contrast to Sean Penn, et al.

That is damn impressive. I didn't know he did that after 9/11..

Seinfeld would be... different with him as Costanza.

For classic Buscemi make sure to see "Tree's Lounge" but with his sheer volume of work there are plenty of clunkers in there.

Steve Buscemi's work on The Sopranos was excellent. Besides being a regular in season 5 he directed some episodes in prior seasons.

I can't think of a single one I didn't like either. I second the recommendation for Trees Lounge, it's a must see for any Buscemi fan. Coffee and Cigarettes and Ghost World are next on my list.
