Default Ceasar\'s IN $2-5 NL Now $1000 max buyin.

I am not sure when this change occurred. I know it is a very recent development. I probably should cross post in the NL forum.

Seems to be the trend. Venetian in Vegas increased their 2/5 from $500 to 1K back on August 1st.

Oh. That does make a significant difference. With the exception of Wynn, most Vegas rooms are uncapped from 5/10 and up, I believe. Not sure about Bellagio.

Look for a regular 5/10 uncapped game at Caesars soon.

The $1000 max buy in is probably a good thing. I know I will be playing the 2/5 a lot more now.

At risk of rekindling the embers of a long debate....

Why would you be more likely to play a game because of the capped buy-in? If you want to cap the effective stacks at $1000, can't you buy into a no-cap game for $1000?

In fairness, I suppose you could argue that in a $1000-cap game, if you double up then you're still not playing very many hands against players with equally big stacks. In a no-cap game where everyone else has $10k on the table, you double up and have to play every hand with an effective stack of $2000 now. But that seems a small consideration.

I'm not flaming, just curious why that would make the basis of your decision.

Good question.

Mainly because of the quality of players will probably go down with a cap and it should be a better game. That is my only real reason for playing it more.

Bankroll shouldn't be an issue with a $1000K cap. To be serious about the game one should have a roll of about 30 buys ins.

The better players will push up to the inevitable 5/10 uncapped leaving the "richer" donks to play the 2/5.

I'm getting wood just thinking about it.

The common perception among live poker players here in the midwest is, you are absolutely destined to lose if you sit with a short stack against big stacks because the big stacks can push you around. The $2-5 NL hasn't been very strong lately and doesn't go very often. I think this move will make the game go more often and be a healthier game.

Spamhead makes a good point about the players.
