If you think you're good here then push the flop. However, he really like his hand so I'm not sure.

Fold preflop...

I think you're beat on the flop. The board is very dry, though 78 is possible. I think you'll most often see K9 or the unlikely 99/66 here. That said, I probably call the 3-bet, but when he makes the half pot value bet on turn, I'm pretty sure it's a fold. I probably wouldn't in the heat of action, though.

I play same level there and would probably do just what you did, and get whacked by the 78 like I'm sure you did. I understand the other posters' opinions, but at this level that guy is just as likely overplaying KQ or K2s as he is 78 or K9. Without seeing how the guy plays there is just no well to tell a real hand from a real donk. Many people at this level play any face card and will go all in with any pair or even draw. I am trying to avoid big pots with anything less rhen a straight until I get a read on the table since I have lost this same way too many times. I would love to hear other people's ideas.

Yes, I agree, push the flop.
By only calling the flop re-raise you've said "I have a hand, but maybe not the best one...let's see one more card and then make a decision." If you push, the move is decisive and scary for the opponent, and puts the decision on him. You also DON"T want him to see any more cards, and if he does, you want to make it expensive as possible. By pushing, more often times than not, you've got the best of it.

People really think he's playing 78 that strongly? It really feels like a low set, better 2 pair or, a really poorly played aces?

grunch

I think you need to be a bit more cautious with only bottom two pair. I am not automatically trying to get it all in with this hand. I dont know if you have any read on sb but lots of players complete K9 or K6 in sb and there are plenty of other hands you are behind here. By the time the action gets to you you are HU so you are either WAWB. he has donked in a multiway pot oop and doesn't seem at all bothered by your flop raise, this is setting off alarm bells for me.

I think you are better off keeping the pot small and trying to get to a showdown relatively cheaply. I think i prefer call, call and perhaps 1/2 pot bet on river if checked to.
