Default 25/50 UB TT hand

Yes, well, i thought i would post this hand. Without further ado i will begin.

4-handed. ive been sitting at this table for about 10 minutes and been quite aggressive, reraising preflop a couple of times etc. Opponent is Adversity, a fine but not super fine player, who might be just a tad on the loose side. Somewhat sneaky too. Ive seen him minraise as a bluff a couple of times before. He calls my reraises preflop quite often so his handrange isnt necessarialy that small. I dont think. Anyway, here's the hand.

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $50 BB (4 handed) converter

SB ($1450)
Hero ($6091)
UTG ($6474)
Button ($9492.50)

Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG raises to $175, 2 folds, Hero raises to $550, UTG calls $375.

Flop: ($1125) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $700, UTG raises to $2000, Hero calls $1300.

Turn: ($5125) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $3924 (All-In), Hero folds.

Final Pot: $9049

I strongly disliked his raise on the flop and called with the plan of really hoping he would check it down. Acceptable or not? If not, give me a better line.

hazeelnut,

Is that your UB username or do you go by something else there? Adversity plays quite differently against different opponents.

Really hoping is not a plan. There is no way I call this raise without intending to get it all in on the turn. Whether or not this is called for is read-dependent, but calling hoping to go to showdown and then folding is practically giving money away.

The problem with the flop call is that you have lots of $$$ behind, but the pot is going to swell way too much. It will give him the cahnce to value push or move you off the hand, whereas you'r rarely going to stack him him here. I think i would fold the flop and generally try and keep the pot smaller.

hazel,

Ah, boy. In that case, I don't like your plan at all. He does not consider you a calling station, so he will follow through on the turn a ton. I don't mind folding, calling, or pushing on the flop. But calling the flop to hope to check down is not a good plan for you against him.

wtf? You hope to check down a $5000 pot? Either push if your read is correct and you have FE over KQ/AQ etc. or fold. There are no other reasonable options.

He puts 1/3 of his stack in by flop and u dont think he's gonna fight for it anymore? Any specific reads of unbelievable pussiness by opponent on turn?

Pot is 5000, and he's got 4000 left on turn....

creed,

If I call the flop, I am either pushing the turn or check-calling. I am not calling the flop to check-fold the turn.
